Abstract

Truth and goodness on the horizon. – This text is based on Jaroslava Pešková’s conception of the human being as a creature capable of thought, and will, both of which are intrinsically linked to the other. A closer analysis reveals that from the very beginning, humans are threatened by the possibility of abusing their freedom to enslave themselves. Jaroslava Pešková built upon the work of Jan Patočka, and through her life and work she bore witness to the acceptance of the responsibility of an educator and philosopher, especially when working at a university. She shaped this responsibility not only through her own creative work but also through the creation of a community that strives toward truth and goodness on the horizon.
