Abstract

Aim: The aim of the article is to introduce the issue of psychodidactics with regard to the relationships between educational theory and practice and to contribute to the discussion on the application of the psychodidactic point of view in teacher education.

Methods: The subject of the qualitative analysis were written reflections of teaching developed according to the transdidactic approach by the 3A methodology by teacher students in three stages of their studies. From a total of 479 reflections, we selected 45 texts from 15 students from nine fields of study. The selection was made by intensive sampling. The coded unit was determinants of teaching. These were monitored by the inductive analysis method, using coding in the Atlas.ti program.

Results: In the three stages of study, we observed the occurrence and quality of reflection of the 29 determinants of teaching assigned to three areas: ontodidactic, psychodidactic, psychological. The ontodidactic area includes 9 teaching determinants and 576 coded units, the psychodidactic area includes 16 teaching determinants and 310 coded units, the psychological area includes 20 teaching determinants and 490 coded units. When comparing the stages of study, we found a reduction in the frequency of codes identified in the psychological area and an increase in the frequency in the psychodidactic area.

Conclusions: The analysis of the content of the students’ reflections shows that their authors view the coded determinants of teaching mainly from a combined perspective of didactics and psychology. This trend intensifies during the study with an increase in disciplinary didactic knowledge. These findings newly emphasize the question of the extent and quality to which the psychodidactic aspect is applied in specific subjects of teacher education: the integration of the knowledge of didactics and educational psychology into a complex psychodidactic competence for teacher activities in the classroom.
